2026 YEAR OF THE FIRE HORSE

Happy Chinese New Year from all of us at Kellyville Vet Clinic🧧🐾

In the Chinese zodiac, each year is represented by one of 12 animals and one of five elements. The Fire Horse occurs only once every 60 years, making it one of the rarest and most talked-about zodiac combinations. Previous Fire Horse years include 1906 and 1966, with the next arriving this year in 2026.

Historically, the Fire Horse gained a dramatic reputation in parts of China and Japan. Ancient folklore suggested that people born in this year would be strong-willed, independent and difficult to tame — especially women. These beliefs were so influential that birth rates dropped significantly in 1966 as families tried to avoid having Fire Horse children.

Over time, this superstition has softened, and modern interpretations celebrate the Fire Horse as a symbol of energy, courage, leadership and passion. The Horse represents freedom and movement, while the Fire element brings warmth, drive and transformation.

Today, the Fire Horse is viewed less as unlucky and more as a sign of powerful change and bold new beginnings — a fitting message as we welcome a new lunar year full of opportunity, growth and fresh starts for both people and their pets.
